Festivals in Canada Info |
Festivals in Canada are so numerous and variable that
everyone will
see something interesting and exciting. Most of festivals are
annual and seasonal. Some festivals are national, some are held in
particular cities. Your travel to
Canada won't be complete unless you visit at least one of its
festivals
Toronto is famous for
International Film
Festivals which is usually held in September. Some critics put it at
one range with Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals. It lasts for 10 days
and presents more than 300 films outstanding and inspirational films
and videos about our world every year. The advantage of that festival
is that it's open to the general public. If you travel Canada in
September you should certainly
drop in Toronto.
Toronto Carnival is the
largest cultural festival in North America. It'll give you the sense of
being far away from Canada, somewhere in Rio...
Canada has its beer festival called "Oktoberfest" just like in Germany.
Actually it takes its roots from this country. As you can see from its
name festival is held in October and lasts about nine days. It ends
when Thanksgiving Day comes.
Art Festival takes place in small town of St. Catharines in May. Next
year this tradition will celebrate its 40 anniversary. Art Festival is
international. Representatives from more than thirty ethnic groups
introduce visitors with culture and history of their countries.
Organizers consider festivals in Ottawa
first of all as business and than as cultural and historical events.
But still they are considered to be the best way to promote Canadian
art and culture. Just to take annual Ottawa Storytelling festival which
is the best and one of the major storytelling events in Canada. You
don't really like reading? Then just listen!
If you have a good sense of humor or even if you don't you'll enjoy
visiting a comedy festival "Just for Laughs" held each July in Montreal, Quebec. It is the
largest festival of its kind in the world but not last and not least
among numerous festivals of Canada.
